Virtual Reality
Virtual reality is an imaginary place between your ears that can be induced
there by your use of the microcomputer, some software programs available for
FREE ( or up to thousands of $$$s ) and the sophisticated tools these programs
have to create a 4-D world in Cyberspace. Using these programs allows one
to create a Universe of YOUR choosing where you can re-write the rules of
physics, chemistry, biology and any other rule you probably cannot even think
of. This unique and extremely fun activity is exciting, beautiful in its
creation and output, and useful in modeling what 'might' happen in the 'real'
world given different sets of circumstances and variable inputs.
Many people have a misconception that virtual reality is meant only to be
3-D, ie height, width and depth; but the 4th component to our reality in Life is
time, and TRUE VR allows this component to be created as well.
The following links are for video files that will take you through a flyby
of the virtual worlds I have been playing at creating in the last month or
so. These are my first real 'full-length' movies so please be
kind.
THESE FILES ARE HUGE ! ! !
These files are NOT meant to be downloaded and viewed over an internet
connection with only a standard modem connection through a phone line.
They are meant to be viewed, and were created for, only on-campus viewing here
at CCC over our internal intranet network. They can be downloaded and
viewed over the internet by HIGH BANDWIDTH users without too much degradation on
cycle rates. However, check the size of the files and realize that these
files WILL take a long time to download and play. I think they are nifty,
but then again, I created them...
